The evaluation of the Intermediate Field Epidemiology Training Program, Bangladesh (iFETP, B) has been completed, marking an important milestone in strengthening evidence-based public health capacity in the country. The assignment commenced in May 2025 and was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Nazneen Akhter, Founder and Managing Director of VAALO avant-garde Ltd.
The evaluation adopted a mixed-method approach, integrating both quantitative and qualitative techniques to ensure a comprehensive assessment of the program’s implementation and impact. Key stakeholders—including program partners, supervisors, mentors, and staff- were consulted through Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), while graduate fellows were engaged through a structured quantitative survey administered via the Kobo Toolbox platform. This rigorous methodology enabled the collection of robust data and diverse perspectives, contributing to a well-rounded evaluation.
The process involved extensive engagement with implementing partners, including the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and GHD | EMPHNET, with funding support from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC). The draft evaluation report underwent a thorough technical review by representatives from EMPHNET and the US CDC. Following a series of detailed feedback and consultation sessions, the report was finalized to reflect high technical standards and actionable recommendations. As part of the evaluation deliverables, a dissemination workshop was subsequently organized to formally present the findings to relevant stakeholders, facilitating dialogue and encouraging collective reflection on the future direction of the program.
The evaluation was supported by Najia Amin Salsabil, Consultant (Public Health Expert), and Umme Suriea, Manager (Program and Research), VAALO avant-garde Ltd., who served as technical associates to the lead consultant.
The completion of this evaluation provides critical evidence and strategic insights to inform decision-making, enhance program effectiveness, and support the long-term sustainability of the iFETP, Bangladesh.
