VAALO avant-garde Ltd., in collaboration with the Department of Public Health of the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB), jointly organized a seminar titled “Why Values Matter in the Current Context of Society” on 17 February 2026 at the CUB Meeting Room.
The seminar brought together faculty members from the Department of Public Health, along with the Dean of the School of Public Health and Life Sciences of CUB, creating a thoughtful academic space for dialogue on ethics and value-based education. The session was facilitated by Dr. Nazneen Akhter, Founder and Managing Director of VAALO avant-garde Ltd., who framed the discussion around the urgent need to reconnect academic excellence with moral and social responsibility.
During the interactive discussion, faculty members and the VAALO team reflected on the role of values in shaping ethical professionals and responsible citizens. The conversation explored the current status of values among young university students in Bangladesh, particularly in a time marked by rapid technological change, social pressures, and shifting professional expectations. Participants identified several emerging value-related challenges, including concerns around academic integrity, accountability, respect, and the influence of digital culture on student behavior. Importantly, the seminar moved beyond identifying problems and focused on practical solutions. Faculty members discussed ways to integrate values more intentionally into teaching methodologies, mentoring approaches, and professional training.
The seminar concluded with remarks from the Dean of the School of Public Health and Life Sciences, CUB, who highlighted the importance of continued dialogue between institutions to strengthen value-based education.
The session opened new avenues for collaboration between VAALO and universities, with the shared vision of organizing similar seminars across different institutions. By encouraging structured academic discussions on values, the initiative aims to contribute to a more ethically grounded and socially responsible generation of future professionals.
