Basics of Project Evaluation/Assessment Workshop

Date: 12 October 2024 | Time: 9:30 AM -1:00 PM | Fees: BDT 1500 per person | Maximum Participants: 16 Persons.

Overview:  Project evaluation/Assessment is a systematic process that assesses a project's performance and outcomes to determine if it achieved its objectives and used resources effectively. It involves defining evaluation criteria, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting findings to stakeholders. Key types include formative (during the project), summative (after completion), process (implementation), and impact (long-term effects). Effective evaluation improves project management, enhances accountability, and informs future projects by identifying successes and areas for improvement. However, challenges such as resource constraints, data quality, and stakeholder engagement must be managed to ensure a meaningful assessment.

Workshop Objectives:
• Equip participants with the knowledge and skills to design, conduct, and analyze Baseline, Endline, and Mid-Term studies for project evaluation.
• Understand the purpose and importance of project evaluation.
• Grasp the concept and importance of Baseline studies.
• Understand the role of Mid-Term evaluations in assessing project progress.
• Learn how to conduct Endline studies to measure the overall impact of a project.

Workshop Outline:
1. Registration, Participants expectation, Ice Breaking Season/ Pre-test: (30 minutes)

2. Introduction to Project Evaluation (20 minutes)
   • Definition and types of project evaluation
   • Role of evaluation in the project cycle
   • Differences between Baseline, Endline, and Mid-Term studies

3. Understanding Baseline Studies (40 minutes)
   • Definition and purpose of Baseline studies
   • Key components of a Baseline study
   • Overall designing a Baseline study

4. Health Break: (15 Minutes)

5. Mid-Term Evaluation: Assessing Progress (40 minutes)
   • Purpose and timing of Mid-Term evaluations
   • Key indicators to assess during Mid-Term evaluations
   • Methods and tools for Mid-Term data collection and analysis

6. Endline Studies: Measuring Impact (40 minutes):
   • Purpose and scope of Endline studies
   • Comparing Baseline and Endline data to measure impact
   •  Reporting and disseminating Endline study findings

7. Skill Measurement and Scaling through interactive sessions( 70 minutes)
   • Quiz
   • Case Study
   • Practical group work session.
   • Open forum for questions and discussion

Delivery Method:
This workshop will be delivered through a combination of interactive presentations, group discussions, case studies, and Q&A sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage actively with the material and apply concepts through practical scenarios.

She specializes in research development, field operations, and strategic planning, with experience in national and international projects, including COVID-19 response.

Participants will receive a comprehensive (Slide Printing, Group work Material, Pen) workbook containing workshop materials for ongoing development and a workshop completing certificates.
