VAALO avant-garde Ltd., in collaboration with SNV Netherlands, has submitted its final report on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) challenges in urban Bangladesh. This joint research, focused on Bagerhat Pourashava, aimed to identify barriers faced by marginalized groups in accessing urban services and to propose actionable recommendations for inclusive urban development.
The study highlighted critical issues such as limited access to clean water and sanitation, underrepresentation of women and persons with disabilities in employment, and inadequate public transportation. Recommendations included strengthening local governance, enhancing urban infrastructure, and promoting community awareness to foster inclusivity.
Dr. Nazneen Akhter, VAALO’s team leader, emphasized the significance of partnerships in addressing complex societal challenges: “This collaboration with SNV Netherlands demonstrates how collective action can drive meaningful change toward a more inclusive urban future.”
