Dissemination Workshop Held on Evaluation of iFETP, Bangladesh

On 29 January 2026, a dissemination workshop on the evaluation of the Intermediate Field Epidemiology Training Program, Bangladesh (iFETP, B) was held at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), organized by the Primary Health Care (PHC), DGHS. The evaluation was conducted by Dr. Nazneen Akhter, Founder and Managing Director of VAALO avant-garde Ltd., who, together with her team, presented the key findings during the workshop.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), has been implementing the iFETP, B with technical support from GHD | EMPHNET. As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen program learning, accountability, and effectiveness, the evaluation was carried out from May 2025 to December 2025 to assess the program’s implementation and impact.

The workshop was graced by the Director General of DGHS as the Chief Guest and attended by the Additional Director Generals (Administration and Planning & Development), Directors associated with the Curriculum Committee, the Director of IEDCR, senior government officials, EMPHNET representatives, and other key stakeholders. Their participation ensured high-level engagement and demonstrated strong institutional commitment to advancing field epidemiology capacity in Bangladesh.

During the session, Dr. Nazneen Akhter and her team delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the evaluation methodology, major achievements, challenges, and evidence-based recommendations for strengthening the program. The presentation was followed by structured discussions, allowing stakeholders to share insights, perspectives, and strategic recommendations.

The workshop served as an important platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative reflection. The evidence and insights generated through the evaluation and subsequent discussions in the workshop are expected to guide a roadmap for actions and contribute to the long-term sustainability and continued development of the iFETP, Bangladesh program.
