On April 24, 2026, an interactive seminar led by VAALO, in collaboration with Primeasia University and supported by the Primeasia University Nutrition Club, transformed the university auditorium into a vibrant hub of discussion on the importance of numbers. Centered on the theme “Why Number Matters; Transforming Numbers into Value,” the event brought together a diverse audience eager to explore how numbers shape professional and academic success for future self and social change making.
Over 150 students, alongside faculty members and invited guests from departments including Public Health Nutrition, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy, and Business Administration, actively participated. This event Distinguished guests included Heads of Departments and representatives from VAALO, Chief guest among them was Prof. Dr. Rayhana Begum, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, who inaugurated the seminar and emphasized nurturing graduates who transform academic knowledge into societal contributions.
Delivering the keynote, Nasirul Islam, M&E Specialist, provided practical insights on translating numbers into actionable strategies. His session highlighted the importance of analytical thinking and evidence-based decision-making in achieving impactful outcomes. Guest speaker Dr. Nazneen Akhter shared a more personal perspective. She explained how numbers go beyond personal use and play a crucial role in shaping social impact. She emphasized the idea of value propagation, how small, data-informed actions can grow into wider positive change when guided by ethical thinking. Her message focused on using numbers responsibly, encouraging participants to adopt a value-driven approach where decisions are not only effective, but also fair, inclusive, and socially beneficial. In her view, numbers become powerful when they support positive, ethical thinking and contribute to meaningful social change. Than Special Guests Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO of the BIID, highlighted the importance of numbers from a nutritional perspective, discussing how calorie counts, nutrient ratios, and portion sizes are essential for public health and individual well-being. Also present here Dr. Abdus Salam Mandol, Head of Biochemistry, and Jhantu Bakchi, Nutrition Club advisor and faculty, lastly spoke. Dr. Rumana Rashid, Chairperson of the Department of Public Health Nutrition, delivered closing remarks.
The seminar served as a platform for thought-provoking discussions, inspiring participants to see beyond numbers and recognize their potential to drive innovation, inform policy, and create societal impact.
